THE LITTLE PRINCE

This book is about a young prince fallen to Earth from an asteroid, who met a pilot crased in the dessert. I decided to read this book because it is one of the most important book in France, in fact it was translated into 250 languages, baille included.

This is a philosophical book which makes readers think about differences between adult's world and children's one, and it includes little tales with social criticism.

The book is based on a Little Prince story and it has a lot of new vocabulary: pryck (espina), stand daughts (mantenerse en pié), fib (mentira), tricks (engaños), latch (enganchar), scarf (bufanda), yawn (bostezo), cloack (manto), cope (hacer frente), stammerd (tartamudear)...

The books deals with the narrator explaining that a child drew a Boa Constrictor with an elephant inside its stomach. Adult people wouldn't know what the draw really represents; so he realized when the Little Prince interprets it correctly that only children are able to understand it right.

The narrator is a pilot who has crashed into a dessert due to an accident with his plane. The Little Prince asked him to draw a sheep because he wants one to take it to his asteroid.

Over the course of eight days, while the pilot was trying to repair the plane the Little Prince was telling him the story of his life.

He had visited some asteroids before landing on Earth and he found on them different kind of people. Each of this people with a very different behaviour, this point tries to critize and make us think about life and human nature.

The main characters in the story are:

The little Prince: He is a precious eight years old child with curly blond hair. He is not from Earth. His young age makes him being inocent. When he ask a question, he don't give up until has an answer.

The pilot: He is supposed to be Antoine De Saint-Exupery, because he lived at the same time and he had the same experiences.

The fox: its messages are probably the most important quotations of the book, because they deal with human relationship.

Other characters are people who lived in the astroids:

The King:He wanted to regin over everything.

The Show-off: He wanted to be admired by everybody.

The Drunkard:He drunk because he was ashamed of drinking.

The Bussinessman:He waa always counting stars because he wanted to own as much as posible.

The Lamp-lighter:He was all day lit on and lit off his lamp. He couldn't rest.

The Geographer:His job was to count all the cities, rivers, mountains, etc... without leaving his desk.

Antoine De Sant-Exupery was a French aristocrat, writer, poet and pioneering aviator. He is best remembered for his novel “The Little Prince” and for his lyrical aviation writings.

He was a succesful commercial pilot before World War II working airmail routes. He desappeared over the Mediterranean on his last mission and he is believed to have died at that time.

I would recomend this book for all people age from childhood to adult age, not only because it is easy to read and understant for everybody but also because from my point of view it lets you enjoy reading.

The story is made by some little tales that made a fast and entertaining lecture. Besides the book makes you think about people's daily behaviour .
